The Meaning of Life
I found this on Kim Schafer-Jones blog spot 'Wyoming Prairie'
'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'
The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?' So God agreed.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said:
'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'
The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?' And God agreed..
On the third day, God created the cow and said:
'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'
The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?' And God agreed again.
On the fourth day, God created man and said:
'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjo y your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'
But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?' 'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'
So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.
For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.
For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.
And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service

Homemade Shampoo's for your Pets
Any dog has a time in its life when it doesn’t smell as fresh and clean as if it was just washed in a fresh, spring-fed lake. This is where essential oils can come to the rescue. Not only do they mask unpleasant odors but they offer some aromatherapy to the dog and household. You can create a variety of different aromatic shampoos for your dog. All-natural aromatherapy grooming begins with the addition of essential oils to an all natural soap or shampoo base.
5 drops Cinnamon Leaf 6 drops of Atlas Cedarwood
5 drops Caraway 4 drops Rosemary
3 drops Black Pepper 2 drops Patchouli
3 drops Bay Lead 3 drops Vetiver
2. Refreshing Citrus Shampoo
3 drops Sweet Orange
3 drops Lemon and Lime
3 drops Grapefruit
3 drops Mandarin
3. Delicate Floral Shampoo
4 drops Lavendar
2 drops Ylang Ylang
4 drops Rose
6 drops Petitgrain
4. Woodsy Conditioning Shampoo
6 drops Atlas Cedarwood
4 drops Rosemary
2 drops Patchouli
3 drops Vetiver
Make sure to watch the dog carefully to see how they react to the scents. If they seem uncomfortable, change the blend, or lessen the amount of oils used.

A Beautiful Day!
It is school holiday time here in Australia and for the next two days I have 2 of my precious grand-daughters staying over with their Nar (thats what they call me). Apyrle who is 8 has stayed over many times before. Kathryn who is 3 in 6 weeks, this will be the first time she has been away from home overnight. So when night time falls it will be anybodys guess as to whether or not she will be happy to stay with her Nar and her Aunty Nae (my yongest daughter Rennae)and not want to go home to mummy and daddy. But until then I am going to enjoy the lovely sunny day with them and worry about all that later. Whatever happens it will all work out fine. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing I wish you all an awesome day.

Are You Sleepwalking Your Life Away?
Are You Sleepwalking Your Life Away?
Posted using ShareThis
Sleepwalkers - These are people who live through their lives in an unconsciousness state. It is not just about being physically awake - Many people around us are awake, yet living unconsciously. They are not fully aware of who they are, the larger context of life they are a part of and their real purpose in life.
Sleepwalkers look like any one of us, but are really just physical shells living through their lives as drones. Have you ever seen people who have no clarity on their life? These people are not able to articulate what their life is about or what they want to do. Every day, they are just running around doing various activities such as working, playing, partying, sleeping, but none of it has any relation to life in the bigger picture. To them, that is what they have come to know as life.
These people are the sleepwalkers.
How do you know if you are a sleepwalker? Below are 8 signs to watch out for:
1. Lack of awareness of the bigger picture.
Ability to see beyond what is before you physically. It is being aware that the boundaries of life is not just limited to what is in your direct sphere of contact, such as your family, friends, religion and workplace. Sleepwalkers are not aware of their life as part of a bigger context - as part of the whole universe, as part of the whole spectrum of human history, as part of something greater than what they see every day. What do you think of your life in terms of?
2. Not living in alignment with real purpose.
Do you know what your purpose in life is? Do you have a clear vision of how you want your life to be 5 years, 15 years, 30 years from now? Or is it fuzzy and undetermined? Sleepwalkers are not aware of what their purpose in life is. They have ambiguous, sketchy purposes which they were fed with at some point in their lives - and they are not fully convinced of it themselves either. Some have an idea of their dreams and goals, but they put it in the backburner in pursuit of other things that others expect them to do in life.
3. Life runs on auto-pilot.
Are you caught in the loop of ‘going through the motions’ or ‘running the rat race’? Sleepwalkers live their lives out in automated mood, repeating the same activities daily with no conscious control over them. They drone through the weekdays, looking forward to fridays and weekends, where they recharge themselves for yet another dead week ahead. This cycle continues week after week, with no end. They are too comfortably snuggled in the cycle to do anything about it.
Occasionally events happen which derails the motion, such as the transition to a different life phase, changing careers, loss of a job, etc. This is also referred to as the mid-life crisis. When this happens, they get a wake up call. They start realizing that they have not really not living their life. At this point, some may either start taking direct action on their lives or scurry back into their rat wheel, convincing themselves that their current life is the best one.
4. Engage into non-value added activities.
When sleepwalkers are not busy getting caught in the motions, they fill the gaps in their lives with random activities. This includes addictions such as playing games, partying, eating, watching TV, surfing the net with no end in mind, gossiping, complaining, etc. The person is often not capable to stop this at will until there is an external stimulus which cuts it off, such as time to sleep or eat. He or she is also not able to articulate a clear reason for engaging the activity, other than ‘Because it is fun’, ‘I like it’ or ‘There is nothing else to do’.
5. Passive or avoidance approach to life.
This is common motif of “Living on a day to day basis” and “Live and let live”. They roll along with the punches and manage them as they come along. Control is something they relinquish to people around them. Asking ‘why?’, questioning existing establishments or taking charge of events in their lives are just not in their nature.
Sometimes they find themselves trapped and unhappy with where they are in their lives, such as their relationships or their work. However, they remain passive about it because they do not see any way out. When asked about their reactive behaviour, they reply with “I want to, but [insert reason]” .They are under the perception that what they are doing is temporary sacrifice for a better, long-term future.
They dislike conflict and try to avoid issues or confrontations as much as possible. After a while of avoiding problems, the unresolved issues will culminate to a breaking point scream for their attention. The sleepwalker’s automatic reaction is to avoid and drown them out by engaging in numbing activities. Unfortunately, this does not resolve anything and the problem emerges again sometime in the future, in a different context. An analogy would be the popular myth about the ostriches ‘burying its head under the sand’. Just because you refuse to acknowledge a problem, does not mean it isn’t there.
6. Find no time to do things you want to do.
Sleepwalkers are often busy all the time - they frequently complain about having a lack of time, not being able to do things they want, etc. But they do not realize that they are the ones who put themselves in that position in the first place. When questioned by other people, they are cannot exactly put a finger to where all the time and energy went into. Sleepwalkers are always waiting for a proverbial ‘next time’ for their goals, dreams and desires in life, but they do not realize that the ‘next time’ never comes.
7. Unconscious of your thoughts and emotions.
Are you aware that 60,000 thoughts run through our mind every day? What thoughts dominant your mind every day? What were you thinking and feeling just before you started reading this article? Sleepwalkers constantly have their minds cluttered. In addition, they also have low awareness of those thoughts that occupy their mind.
8. Lack of motivation or ambition.
Sleepwalkers are not very motivated or driven in their lives. They live simply because they are here. They spend their lives living other peoples’ expectations to make something out of their lives. While some of them have personal goals and desires, they keep them stashed away in pursuit of other things which they feel they ‘need’ to do.
Does any of the criteria above describe your current situation or anyone around you?

This aspirin mask works well
To make the Aspirin mask, first you need to get uncoated, dissolvable tablets. Then take two or three tablets and dissolve in a teaspoon of warm water. You may like to add honey or yogurt to bind the paste together before spreading the mixture on your face, taking care to avoid the eye area. Leave it for about 10 minutes until it dries and gently rub the mask into the face to exfoliate the skin. Rinse off and moisturize.
Coffee undereye dark circle mask
It seems that using a face mask that has coffee beans or caffiene will awaken and open up the blood vessels around the eyes to make the blood flow and take away some of the darkness.
Note: you should not attempt this if your skin is not agreeable to any of the said ingredients.

To whoever passes this way, 'Have a Happy Valentines Day'
Valentine's Day is about hearts that are red and pink, lacy and soft too. It's about chocolate hearts and tiny candy hearts inscribed with "Luv You." But Valentine's Day isn't only for sweethearts; it's also a celebration of friendship, that's loyal and true. And this Valentine's Day, I'll remember and cherish the warm and caring heart of good friends like you. And I'll hope and pray, that you'll have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

It was a chance encounter in the charred landscape of Victoria's deadly wildfires: A koala sips water from a bottle offered by a firefighter.
"It was amazing, he turned around, sat on his bum and sort of looked at me with (a look) like, put me out of my misery," Mr Tree told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "I yelled out for a bottle of water. I unscrewed the bottle, tipped it up on his lips and he just took it naturally.
"He kept reaching for the bottle, almost like a baby."
"I love nature, and I've handled koalas before. They're not the friendliest things, but I wanted to help him," Mr Tree said.
Often mistakenly called koala bears because they resemble a child's teddy bear, the marsupial is actually a rather grumpy creature with a loud growl. It rarely comes down from the trees and doesn't like walking.
Koalas are especially vulnerable to wildfires because they move slowly on the ground.
The wildfires cut through parks and forests and sent countless wombats and other native species fleeing. One resident reported seeing kangaroos bouncing down the road with flames at their backs.
Mr Tree said he found the koala in a burned-out forest near Mirboo North, about 150 kms east of Melbourne.
Koalas normally dont drink water because they get almost all their fluids from the leaves they eat.
After the scorched koala sipped from the water bottle and Mr Tree's crew moved on, animal welfare officials came by.
The koala was in pain but recovering with antibiotics, Jenny Shaw of the Mountain Ash Wildlife Shelter told Melbourne's The Herald Sun newspaper.
"She is lovely - very docile - and she has already got an admirer. A male koala keeps putting his arms around her," Ms Shaw was quoted as saying. "It will be a long road to recovery, but she should be able to be released back into the wild in about five months."
Despite her gender, the now famous koala is nicknamed Sam.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA) says it is establishing shelters to care for thousands of pets and livestock affected by the fires.
A care and triage centre has been set up at Kinglake to care for injured animals.
Veterinarians will be available at the centre to provide emergency treatment, advice and assistance.
RSPCA chief executive officer Maria Mercurio said the organisation would continue its presence in the area for as long as it was needed.
The RSPCA says the care of pets will be free.

'A Breath Test for Breast Cancer'
The only thing needed is your breath. That’s right, the innovative device used to detect early cases of breast cancer is a special breathalyzer. Similar to the way police use breathalyzer’s to figure out how much alcohol a person has consumed, the breast cancer breathalyzer is able to detect early stage breast cancer before it spreads. Medical studies have found that the body actually produces certain types of chemicals into a person’s breath and certain patterns set off early signs of breast cancer. The breathalyzer is then able to pick up on those patterns, allowing doctors to make an early diagnosis. Read the full article here...

It’s a brand new year. A new beginning.
What do I have to do to achieve the changes that I want in my life. I have always been a whatever happens, take it as it comes kind of girl. This year its time to take a new direction, new actions and new thoughts. When what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time to change what you’re doing. I’m making some changes.
Did you know, statistics prove that it takes approximately 21 days to make or break a habit. Twenty-one days of doing or NOT doing something before it truly has an impact on your life. So, I ask…who will you be in 21 days? Not where will you be or what will you be doing… but WHO will you be? You can’t make drastic changes without it changing who you are.
First thing I’ll be doing for 21 days is listening to God more, that still quiet voice inside. Taking the time to thank him for all my blessings. Im sure God does'nt answer every prayer I place before him. He hears and listens, weighs it all up, but in the end he knows what is best for me. He honors bold prayers of blessings and blesses us according to His will. He has many blessings He’s waiting to give..and He’s waiting for us to ask boldly. So, for at least 21 days (and the rest of 2009), I will be boldly going before the throne of God and asking for His blessings on ME. Asking Him to stretch my territory for His glory.
Join me, will you?
Next im planning on shedding that extra weight that hangs on like a leach and wont budge. So for the next 21 days whether I feel like it or not, none of my usual excuses like no time, too tired, or just plain lazy, are not going to work anymore. We received a Wii fit board for xmas. I have my own personal trainer on there, and he's going to keep me on track. With that and my own determination I am going to succeed. You will notice I am keeping any negative thoughts out of here. That way im sure I will succeed.
Last, but not least, I’m going to spend 21 days living as if it were my last. You never know when it actually could be. Im making the most of every day that I possibly can. I will be telling my family I love and appreciate them much more often than I have in the past. I will be more kinder and accepting of myself and others.
Now the goal of course is to have these 21 days turn into 365, and then 365 more and so on. New Year, New habits.
Happy New Year and many blessings in 2009! Ask BOLDLY, expect blessings, and give thanks for each and every moment.
